Schlumberger is the world's largest oilfield service group with a $11.48 billion operating revenue, 52,000 employees of 140 nationalities and operations in 80 countries. In the week beginning 18 July 2005, the company reported a jump in second-quarter profits to $482.2 million (£276 million) from $355.6 million in the sam period last year.
