Theratase, through it's subsidiary Biozyme Laboratories has supplied enzymes into the diagnostic healthcare market for almost 30 years for use in the production of test kits and reagents. In contrast to enzymes produced for industry, Biozyme's products are characterised by being relatively low volume but high margin. Recent industry estimates put the global market for diagnostic enzymes at $120 million of which Biozyme currently services approximately 8% including some of the best known names in the industry. In the extremely complex sector, where it is possible that a Biozyme competitor is also a customer, a supplier or both, the main competition facing Biozyme is out of the US and Japan. Biozyme Laboratories' customers range from the blue chip multinational to the University researcher with many of the world's leading diagnostics companies having been customers of Biozyme for many years. This is a testament to the high quality of Biozyme Laboratories enzymes, its highly respected customer service, and most importantly the calibre of its employees.
