Downing Corporate Finance was set up in 1986 with the purpose of promoting tax based investment schemes. During the late 1980s and early 1990s Downing set up and administered a number of BES companies, raising a total of £130 million. In 1997 Downing launched its first Venture Capital Trust, Downing Protected VCT I, raising £9.8 million. Since then, Downing has promoted 25 VCTs raising over £400 million. More recently we launched our own range of VCTs, the Downing Protected VCTs. Downing also promotes other tax based and other investment schemes, including the EIS portfolio service (£30 million), the Rathbones IHT Portfolio Services (£7 million) and 12 Enterprise Zone Trusts (£57 million).
