Company Overview

Greggs is the UK's leading bakery retailer, with over 1,200 shops nationwide, serving approximately 5 million customers each week. A large proportion of their business is in takeaway food - principally shop-made sandwiches and freshly-baked savoury products like pies, pasties and sausage rolls, plus sweet lines in doughnuts and drinks. These product categories have driven growth of the group for many years, who also operate catering units through the Bakers Oven brand.

In the week beginning 1 August, Greggs reported a 15 per cent rise in first-half profits to £15.6 million as like-for-like sales grew 5.2 per cent. However, the company also gave warning over rising costs.
