Company Overview
AIB Group is Ireland's leading banking and financial services organisation, famously hit by a $700 million US rogue trading scandal in 2002. The group operates through four main divisions:
AIB Bank (RoI) division consists of the group's retail and commercial activities in the Republic of Ireland. It also includes Ark Life, AIB's life and pensions subsidiary, and other specialist businesses offering credit cards, car finance & leasing products, home mortgages and other services. About 9,500 staff work for AIB Bank (RoI), operating out of over 280 outlets in the Republic of Ireland.
AIB Bank (GB&NI) division provides retail and commercial banking services in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The division employs almost 3,000 people in more than 55 outlets in Northern Ireland, where AIB Bank trades as First Trust Bank, and in 47 locations in Britain under the name Allied Irish Bank (GB).
AIB Capital Markets division comprises the Global Treasury and International, Investment Banking and Corporate Banking activities of the group as well as the Allied Irish America network.
Poland division refers to AIB's majority shareholding in Bank Zachodni WBK - a multi-regional retail and commercial bank with a network of more than 360 outlets and five business centres employing about 7,200 people. This investment gives the group access to one of the EU's and Central Europe's largest economies.
